“GO GET YOUR MOTHER AND ALL HER FRIENDS! THEY’LL NEVER SEE A FIRE LIKE THIS AGAIN!”…
These words, spoken by Thomas Edison while watching his life’s work go up in flames is the epitome of my belief that CREATIVITY is GREATER than CIRCUMSTANCE…
Edison’s response to this inferno is an exercise in what is called: AMOR FATI (which I actually have on one of my @myintent bracelets that I wear every day)…
AMOR FATI means “LOVE your FATE” or in the words of Byron Katie, “Loving what IS”…
When we can REALLY relax ourselves into the present moment…
Seeing that NOTHING is actually serious because ALL THINGS are neutral until we attach stories to them…
THEN we can truly AMOR FATI; allowing us to move into one of my favorite tools and mantra’s that I created and try to live by as often as possible…
And that mantra is “SO WHAT? NOW WHAT?”
SO WHAT? means not making the THING we are experiencing SO significant…
This is where we RISE UP in our consciousness instead of SINKING DOWN into our stories…
It is what gives us access to gently start moving into objectivity…
It is where we notice that the only FACT is that “something happened” and that anything else ABOUT that fact is a story that either empowers us or debilitates us…
And then comes NOW WHAT? which is where we INTENTIONALLY ask ourselves the question…
“Given that this thing is NOT as serious as I thought it was AND ALSO given that I am a person of GREAT resourcefulness, IMMENSE creativity, AND the ability to take PURPOSEFUL action…
…What ROLE can I PLAY in CREATING a different experience for myself in this situation?”
What is going on in your world right now where you may benefit from practicing a bit of AMOR FATI?
What challenging circumstances, difficult conversations or uncertainty are you facing where a dose of “SO WHAT? NOW WHAT?” could really help move you forward?
